Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. Our Team:

The Audit & Compliance Department is responsible for Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Global Ethics & Compliance Program. Our Program reinforces our values and the fundamental principles set out in our Code of Conduct. The Department works in partnership with the Conduct and Integrity Committee and is supervised by the Audit Committee, with direct reporting to Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Board of Directors. This structure guarantees the autonomy and independence required for the Audit & Compliance Department to conduct the areas of Internal Audit, Whistleblower Channel and Corporate Integrity.

The Whistleblower Channel is part of Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Third Line of Defense and is responsible for investigating allegations, providing exemption assurance, and reporting on the effectiveness of risk management and prevention, internal controls and compliance.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst, Whistleblower Channel to join our Audit & Compliance team. This is a permanent, remote position and may require occasional visits to the Toronto or Sudbury office.

As a Senior Analyst, Whistleblower Channel \xe2\x80\x93 you will support the operation of Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Whistleblower Channel, conducting and coordinating investigations of allegations related mainly to the North Atlantic region. Also, you will proactively promote ethical awareness in Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate Culture. The Whistleblower Analyst should use their experience in conducting investigations to optimize the control environment within the company. Occasionally, the analyst can support Internal Audit engagements within the scope of the broader Audit & Compliance team. Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Ensure action plans are prepared based on the investigation conclusions of the allegations, complaints, or similar reports, so that the Whistleblower Channel can help to identify improvement opportunities in controls, processes, systems and others, working in a preventive manner;
  • Keep updated on the main regulations and market practices regarding ethics and investigations and other topics that may be related to the Whistleblower Channel activities;
  • Interact with other departments that will conduct part of the investigation or provide information to the investigation such as Audit, HR, Legal, Corporate Security and others;
  • Generate qualified and structured information for the various stakeholders such as Board of Directors, Fiscal Council, Audit Committee, Executive Board, and Leadership in general;
  • Develop and manage internal communications facilitating access to employees to the Whistleblower Channel;
  • Have availability to travel from 40% to 60% of time throughout all North Atlantic operations, including remote locations.
About You

Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, Law, Sociology or a similar field of study.
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Finance or Business Administration would be preferred.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification would be preferred.
Experience:
  • 5-7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in internal control, internal audit, workplace investigations or risk management
  • Experience with process design softwares (e.g. Visio), and investigation related IT tools would be an asset.
  • Experience in mining/a heavy industry environment would be preferred.
Skills:
  • High moral and ethical standards.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Highly focused, motivated and self-directed.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
