We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Pension Legal & Plan Policy (PLPP) team in Toronto. You will be part of a team that provides leadership, expertise and solutions on plan design, administration and pension initiatives.

As a key member of this team, reporting to the Manager, Case Management, this role focuses on responding to complex pension inquiries and escalations arising from our members, employers and third parties.

The Senior Analyst is also responsible for supporting the dispute resolution process by working collaboratively with teams across OMERS and supporting the preparing of documents required for senior leaders when making an informed decision.

In addition, the Senior Analyst will also play a role in the maintenance and improvement of OMERS internal and external pension content by identifying gaps and leveraging prior escalation experiences to assist in enhancing content. The Senior Analyst will also identify case trends and report on these trends and impacts.

Responsibilities

Research and analyze the details of each inquiry and provide accurate direction and/or resolution

Offer innovative, flexible and creative solutions to complex inquiries, while ensuring compliance with Plan and Legislative rules

Manage complex member or potential beneficiary escalations through to resolution by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and determining a resolution that meets member needs while adhering to all regulatory, plan and/or policy requirements

Handle escalations arising through the contact centers, including gathering the necessary facts and consulting with the business areas to effectively resolve the issue

Identify process, communication, and pension content gaps and make recommendations for improvements to enhance the experience of our internal employees, members, employees and third parties

Identify and report out on case trends and impacts

Develop clear and well-written reports, and supporting documentation for presentations to Senior Management and other audiences

Proactively identify and contribute to issue resolution in consultation with Pension Services leaders and key stakeholders

Coordinate and support meetings with internal stakeholders, as necessary, to discuss and develop issues handling approach, action plans and policy guidelines

Build and maintain collaborative and constructive relationships with internal partners

Support the development of OMERS pension content by providing input, based on prior escalations, to enhance the content to support understanding of OMERS administration

Stay connected to the evolving pension landscape, including legislative/regulatory reforms, pension trends, news and activities in the Canadian Pension industry and the major Ontario pension plans and provide insights on any related impacts to OMERS

Support other initiatives and projects within the Pension Services team, as required

Qualifications

University Degree or equivalent with 3+ years relevant pension and/or policy experience.

Policy, law, actuarial or economic degree or training would be an asset.

Knowledge of pension plan administration, plan design and current pension legislation/regulations.

Ability to analyze complex issues and related data, identify issues, synthetize relevant and available information and infer conclusions even in ambiguous situations

Conceptual thinker with the ability to clearly capture, communicate and share information

Proven ability to develop insightful and creative solutions, while ensuring that risks and cost to the Plan are analyzed and stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 views are considered

Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis methods and reporting/presentation approaches both written and visual

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Experience in exercising judgment and tactfulness when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders

High integrity and discretion to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information

Able to work independently with minimal direction and as part of a team in an environment with competing priorities and deadlines

Superior inter-personal and organizational skills

Proficient in MS Office such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
