Job Summary

The Senior Analyst Analytics and Optimization is responsible for leading advanced analytics, marketing trends analysis and presentations of findings. The role works closely with Marketing, Information and Technology (I&T), Operations, other CN departments as well as external consultants to secure data, analyze and visually represent findings and recommendations. The role conducts detailed data analyses and provides answers to ad hoc queries to help solve business problems while leveraging statistical and data optimization techniques.

Main Responsibilities

Data Analytics - 75%

Perform advanced data analytics (e.g., descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive analytics) on multi-source datasets

Provide insights and drives decision-making by presenting big data findings visually to senior leadership

Combines an understanding of Business, Operations and I&T to group data and elements analyzing trends to help develop recommendations

Optimization - 25%

Work with CN and external data to analyze, extract, summarize trends and make recommendations on optimizing and solving business problems

Improve existing processes and reporting through value-added analysis and automation

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires minimal travel (10%) within North America. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.

Requirements

Experience

Operation Automation and Logistics

Between 2 to 3 years of experience in a large-scale operation or logistics environment

Experience with technology and operation automation projects

Work experience in Supply chain operations or commercial role

Education/Certification/Designation

Bachelor's Degree in Operations Research, Applied Statistics, Data Mining, or Supply Chain Management

Master's Degree in Operations Research, Applied Statistics, Data Mining, or Supply Chain Management*

Understanding of cleaning, managing, and visualizing data (structured and unstructured)

Advanced knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) and Structured Query Language (SQL)

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)

Deep understanding of statistical modelling, operations research methodologies, Linear Programming (LP), data mining concepts, or others

The Senior Analyst, Analytics and Optimization is responsible for designing analytical models and presenting recommendations and data to senior management. The role provides insight analysis to support improving customer survey efficiency, web usage analytics, business performance measures and helps improve customer service.

Level of Interaction/Influence

The Senior Analyst, Analytics and Optimization interacts with individuals internal and external to CN. Within the organisation, the incumbent liaises with stakeholders in Sales and Marketing, Operations, Customer Service and I&T. Outside of CN, the role communicates with suppliers, consultants' customers and supply chain partners with consultants and technology vendors.

Employees Supervised/Organizational Structure

The Senior Analyst, Analytics and Optimization reports to the System Director, Product and Yield and has no supervisory responsibility.
