What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing

As the Senior Analyst - Analytics, Performance & Operations, you will provide support to all areas of pension investment management and related functions. Your primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, daily investment administration and performing cash management activities, providing reports in a timely manner to support the department\xe2\x80\x99s investment monitoring and oversight activities, as well as performing certain risk management functions relating to the Plan\xe2\x80\x99s funded positions, balance sheet impact, hedging programs and liquidity capacity.

How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Succeed

Perform Analytics and Modelling \xe2\x80\x93 Conduct in-depth analysis and modelling that supports top-down pension management recommendations, asset allocation decisions, portfolio construction optimization and development of bespoke asset class strategies. Maintain and enhance models of pension assets and liabilities.

Reporting and Attribution Analysis \xe2\x80\x93 Support the quarterly investment reporting process including the production of investment returns, validating returns and related data (with the Pension Plan\xe2\x80\x99s underlying investment managers and custodian), attribution analysis, identification of key performance drivers, portfolio positioning review, aggregation of risk positions across investments, and the generation of final reports. Run monthly pension reports including estimates of funded status, balance sheet impact, attribution of changes, and key risk sensitivities. Co-ordinate with other investment support and finance areas to ensure inputs for reporting are received and are accurate as required and to understand any issues on valuation, accounting etc. that impact reporting.

Governance Support \xe2\x80\x93 Support the periodical updating of investment policies, pension governance documents and the business unit\xe2\x80\x99s process documentation.

Compliance Monitoring - Monitor portfolio compliance against defined internal and external regulatory policies.

Operational Management - General operational management of the investment program including investment administration, cash management and ensuring control processes are upheld at all times .

Liquidity Management - Maintain the liquidity and leverage reporting dashboard to ensure investments and strategies are maintained through market dislocation events.

Oversight Support of the Public Markets Portfolio - Support the Director, Public Markets by assisting with the manager monitoring processes, including manager reviews, oversight, evaluation, compliance monitoring and the collation ESG data from the investment managers.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience. You have 5+ years of experience in a mid-size or large pension plan, an investment/actuarial consulting firm, or an investment management firm.

You can demonstrate knowledge. Broad knowledge of Defined Benefit pension plans and federal pension legislation. Good knowledge of and possess a keen interest in capital markets (especially equities, liquid alternatives and bonds).

You have a degree/diploma. In Business, Finance, Actuarial Science and/or related disciplines. Having (or are working towards) a certification (CFA, FRM) or graduate degree (MBA), will be considered an asset.

You can demonstrate strong computer skills. You have strong Excel capabilities and preferably VBA modelling skills. Possessing a sound working knowledge of Bloomberg. SharePoint and risk systems such as MSCI Barra will be considered an asset. As well, experience in creating high quality and sophisticated presentations on PowerPoint will be considered a valuable skill.
