Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Measurement and Knowledge Integration, Applied Research & Evaluation Services, the Senior Analyst provides analysis, information, interpretation and reports in response to complex queries regarding program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, measurement, research, and performance measurement pertaining to the provincial Primary Health Care objectives, programs and services. The Senior Analyst provides consultation and collaborates with multiple stakeholders across the province both internal to AHS (e.g., Primary Health Care, Strategic Clinical Networks - SCNs, DIMR, IT, quality improvement , knowledge management, research services, Zones, population & public health, privacy, etc.) and external to AHS (e.g., Alberta Health - AH, Alberta Medical Association - AMA, Primary Care Networks -PCNs, Family Care Centers - FCCs, Health Quality Council of Alberta - HQCA; physicians) to fully understand and define the requested query/information. The Senior Analyst determines the appropriate analytic/statistical methodology, data types and sources to use, completes the analysis (both descriptive statistics and more advanced statistical analyses including inferential and predictive statistics), provide interpretations and recommendations, and presents the findings/information in the format requested (reports, oral presentations, etc.). Consults with legal representatives and privacy officers and adheres to AHS legal and privacy processes and regulations. The data and information provided by the Senior Analyst are integral to provincial, zone-level operational and business planning, strategic planning, program and system planning and evaluation, research, quality improvement initiatives as well as performance reporting for the Provincial Primary Health Care.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in health related field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, evaluation, community health sciences, etc.) with strong quantitative/analytical or evaluation focus. Minimum three (3) years' experience conducting complex data analysis in a health care setting. Minimum five (5) years' experience working with statistical (e.g., SAS, STATA, SPlus, R, Python, etc.) as well as spreadsheets, databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting (i.e., tableau) and disseminating health data (i.e., DAD, NACRS, Claims, EPIC/ConnectCare).
Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to work with very large databases and adept with computer programming tools such as oracle, SQU PLSQL, etc. Knowledge and ability to produce a variety of descriptive, inferential and predictive statistics. Strong verbal and written communication skills to produce reports and communicate with clients from across the organization. Experience in screening, cleaning, linking, creating, modifying and analysing datasets in a statistical (SAS, SPSS, etc) or database-management/qualitative software package (e.g., NVivo). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio and Access) and the ability to become proficient with new software packages. Must abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Health Information Act, and other relevant legislation. Broad understanding of health systems.
Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently. Ability to understand clinical issues, and to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people at different levels within the organization and with different skills and expertise.
