Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor, HR and LOA Admin in HR Shared Services (HRSS). This position reports to the Manager, HR and LOA Admin and is responsible and accountable for direction, evaluation and leadership (including all parts of the hiring process and performance management) of the HR and LOA Admin teams. The Senior Advisor, HR & LOA Admin is one of two Senior Advisors, who share overseeing a diverse team of approximately 35 employees. The Senior Advisor position is accountable for managing the HR and LOA Admin teams who are responsible for the timely and accurate processing of HR and LOA transactions for 120,000+ employees for Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Carewest and Alberta Public Laboratories. In additional this position will be responsible for leading process improvement projects, representing HR & LOA Admin as a subject matter expert in meetings and on many working groups. This position establishes and maintains positive working relationships with HRSS Leadership, all areas of HRSS, HR Business Partnership, Finance, Centres of Expertise and various unions. Description:

Your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide direct support and expert counsel to the Manager, on all aspects of HR and LOA Admin processes, interpretations and transactions. Assisting in the development of annual business plans for the HR and LOA Admin team which including outcomes, success measures, and key performance metrics. Managing team and individual performance, coaching, and recruitment of all staff. Participating in the strategic development and planning for both short and long-term plans within HR Shared Services. The role deals with complex issues that are escalated and provides advice, analysis, support and guidance to the team on a range of system, program and process matters that are critical for the timely and accurate processing and administration of systems, processes and functional areas. Incumbent is responsible for developing and executing quality assurance processes, reconciliations, audits and reports to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Ensures a high level of customer service is provided to clients, team members, and other stakeholders, and ensure required outcomes are achieved within established timelines and other parameters. Participate in or lead projects/teams as required ensuring the functional requirements relating to changes to system, contracts, programs or legislation are understood and implemented timely and accurately. Evaluating and providing input into policies, procedures, business processes, employee handbooks, and training manuals as they pertain to HR and LOA. Collaborating on the implementation of terms and conditions of employment and collective agreement updates for all HR systems and processes.

Required Qualifications:

A degree from an accredited college or University in Human Resources or related discipline. 5 years of progressive HR experience in an organization of significant size and complexity with at least 3 years of that experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity. Technical experience administering complex HR and LOA rules and processes, in a large multi-union organization. Prior experience with HR Information Systems, preferably PeopleSoft, is required. Proficient in using Excel to collate data, perform analysis, generate metrics and create template. Capable of interpreting policies and plan documents to make decisions and recommendations. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to assess performance and provide ongoing development. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Effective verbal and written communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing responsive, quality services. Proven ability to foster partnerships/build solid relationships to achieve organizational goals within a diverse organization. Strong analytical, problem solving, and resolution skills. Ability to build and sustain trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) considered an asset. Expertise in public sector HR administration, project management, business process improvement, or quality assurance.
