Job Summary



We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced

Senior Accounting Technician

to join our public practice team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working in a public accounting firm, with strong capabilities in

compilations (NTRs), bookkeeping, and personal tax preparation

. This role is essential in supporting our assurance, tax, and advisory teams by ensuring accurate financial records, high-quality client deliverables, and exceptional service standards.

Duties



Prepare

compilation (NTR) financial statements

and working paper files in accordance with ASPE and firm standards Complete

T1 personal tax returns

, including investment, rental, business, and corporate shareholder filings Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for clients, including

accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

Perform

bank, credit card, and account reconciliations

across multiple client files Prepare adjusting journal entries and maintain general ledger continuity for year-end engagements Support the preparation of

T2 corporate tax returns

and related schedules (bonus--not mandatory) Maintain accurate and current accounting records in software such as

QBO, Xero, Sage

, and others Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify discrepancies, and ensure completeness of records Assist with

year-end closing procedures

, financial reporting, and working paper documentation Identify issues within client files and collaborate with senior team members to resolve them Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and relevant regulatory requirements

Skills & Qualifications



Previous experience in

public practice

is required Strong working knowledge of

compilations (NTRs)

and personal tax preparation Proficiency with accounting and bookkeeping software such as

QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero

, and payroll platforms (ADP, Ceridian, Wagepoint) Solid understanding of

ASPE

, bookkeeping best practices, and year-end working paper preparation Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail for reconciliations and variance analysis Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and internal team members Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and maintaining professional standards

Summary



This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of client financial information while supporting the delivery of high-quality compilation, bookkeeping, and tax services. The Senior Accounting Technician contributes directly to our firm's success by ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional client service
