Job Description

:
The Senior Accounting Technician plays a key role in managing and executing complex accounting processes and contributing to the accuracy of financial records. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting the broader finance team in achieving organizational goals. The Senior Accounting Technician will rely on advanced knowledge of financial principles and accounting systems, demonstrating leadership in mentorship and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and oversee advanced accounting functions such as reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other operational tasks.
  • Preparation of personal, corporate and trust income tax returns
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support audits by gathering and organizing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Review and ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Preparation of payroll, GST/HST reports and year-end tax forms
  • Assist in identifying inefficiencies and recommend improvements to processes and controls.
  • Utilize financial software and tools to manage accounting processes securely and efficiently.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting systems or updates to existing platforms.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior accounting team members.
  • Lead special projects, such as process improvement initiatives or strategic finance tasks.
  • Analyze and resolve complex accounting discrepancies or issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders regarding technical accounting questions.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proficient in the following: QuickBooks, Excel, Adobe and MS Office Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Adept at analyzing and solving complex accounting and financial issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience with preparation of Notice to Reader statements
