Senior Accounting Contractor
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Contractor to provide short-term support in account reconciliations, process design, and other key accounting functions. The primary focus will be on completing reconciliations for multiple entities, while also contributing to process improvements and specialized accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will have an audit background, strong technical skills, and experience in process design.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Perform account reconciliations for sixteen entities
  • Reconcile prepaid accounts and deposit accounts
  • Review and reconcile accrued liabilities and accounts payable, including gratuities payable, gift cards, employee benefits, RRSP, and income taxes payable
  • Manage reconciliations for deposits payable (deferred revenue)
  • Evaluate and redesign processes for Atlas tips software and gratuities payable
  • Document and recommend accounting treatments for distillery and brewery production processes
  • Update fixed asset continuity schedules and calculate new monthly amortization
  • Assess changes to amortization policy and implement updates
  • Assist in establishing a financial statement consolidation process
Your strengths include:
  • CPA designation (or equivalent such as CA, CMA)
  • Audit background with experience in process design and internal controls
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and ASPE standards
  • Expertise in account reconciliations across multiple entities and complex structures
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to analyze and improve accounting workflows and documentation
  • Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting and amortization policies
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
