Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role is a key contributor to the accounting and financial reporting cycle, performing end-of-period close activities, facilitating process efficiencies, upholding strong internal control practices, and supporting the company\xe2\x80\x99s growth initiatives.Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and post month-, quarter-, and year-end close process journal entries, accruals, account analysis and reconciliations for subsidiaries
  • Prepare supporting documentation, ensuring completeness, mathematical accuracy, and adherence to accounting policies
  • Assist with trial balance reviews, preparing variance analyses and commentary
  • Recommend, document, implement, and maintain improvements to the close cycles and related processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Own the accounting processes within Workday, implementing customization decisions and content releases
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand and support business processes, upholding best accounting and internal control practices
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing working papers to respond to audit requests
  • Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives, including M&A, integrations, reorganizations, and automation opportunities
  • Prepare financial ratio calculations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Prepare GST/HST returns
Must Haves:
  • University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
  • Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent) or close to completion
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Intellectually curious and motivated
  • Collaborative and works cross functionally
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Highly organized, with time management skills and attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with general ledger or accounting systems such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP
  • Solid understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards, including ability to apply accounting principles to new scenarios/transactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Experience in public accounting
