Job Description

Ford Transportation Services Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company of Canada located in Windsor, Ontario, responsible for the transportation of parts and finished products internally between local plants and to customer plants in Southeastern Michigan.Basic Requirements for hire:

  • Must possess a Class 1(AZ) driver's license, including photo portion.
  • Must provide Commercial Vehicle Operator Record (CVOR) Driver Abstract.
  • Must have a valid FAST Card.
  • Must have 3 years driving experience that is recent and verifiable.
  • Must have a clean CVOR abstract for 3 years
  • Must pass a DOT Pre-Employment drug test administered by a licensed medical Review Officer (MRO)
  • Must participate in DOT cross-border driver Drug and Alcohol program
  • Must be registered with US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (registration is required when applying for driver position).
  • Must be able to operate a commercial vehicle with 10-speed and 13-speed transmissions and all types of diesel trucks, tractors and tractor trailers.
  • Working knowledge of Detroit streets and expressway systems.
  • Working knowledge of Customs procedures to document freight moving across international borders.
  • Completion of a separate company driver qualification application provided upon selection for candidacy
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Must record an accurate logbook or Trip Sheet, experience using an electronic logging device is an asset at a future time.
  • Delivery parts and finished materials to customers and suppliers at various locations in Windsor and Southeastern Michigan
  • Crossing US-Canada border multiple times daily.
  • Must be familiar with Hours of Service Legislation.
  • Must be able drive Class 8 semi-trucks with 53-foot trailers.
  • Must be able to drive off-road switch tractors moving trailers from storage yard to docks for production in a timely manner.
  • Must participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required
  • Must be prepared to deal with customer plant employees and conduct themselves in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Will be scheduled to work staggered start times and afternoon shifts, including some Saturdays or Sundays.
  • Must abide by and observe all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist in identifying service requirements of vehicles in the fleet.
  • Following COVID-19 protocols established for all company, customer, and supplier facilities.
