The Canadian Seed Marketing Leader will lead the development and implementation of the strategy for our overall seeds and traits business in Canada, including our seed brand strategies for Pioneer and Brevant, and for all seed traits. The Seed Marketing Leader will be responsible for the five-year forecast and financial plan, delivery of our annual sales and financial plans, communications strategy, and marketing strategies. The Seeds Marketing Leader will also be responsible for building Canadian business cases to support our seed technology launches in Canada. The incumbent will lead the Local Product Concept Teams for canola, corn, soybeans, and winter wheat, creating strategies, cross-functional alignment and implementation plans to deliver on our Corteva growth objectives, and manage our product lifecycles. In addition, the Seed Marketing Leader will work with the Canadian Licensing Manager to build and deliver our trait and germplasm out-licensing strategy.

As a member of the Marketing Team, the successful candidate will collaborate with all marketing categories, Output trait team, Sales Leaders, Sales Teams, MarComm Team, Customer Experience and Marketing Communications Leader and Key Accounts Team to build integrated strategies and tools to deliver the Corteva annual plan.

This role is responsible for advancing Corteva\'s Canadian seed 5-year and annual plan development and execution, aligned to the 15-year plans for seed, in conjunction with the Commercial Unit leader, Marketing Director and Global Crop Leaders. Specifically:

  • Establish, refine, and lead the implementation of the 5-year Seed strategy for Canada, achieving financial and share targets by crop
  • Champion the growth, renewal, defense innovation & resource allocation of the portfolio within the business
  • Lead the development of the portfolio and business 1-year OTG & OTD business targets in alignment with the Portfolio Marketing Managers and Regional Leadership direction
  • Lead direct reports (Portfolio Marketing Managers and Product Lifecycle Managers) ensuring there are annual goal plans, a review of annual results, a career development plan, and a path for role succession for key team members
  • Provides demand forecast with inputs and clear assumptions (Current Year+2) for the Integrated Business Planning process and CY+3 to CY+5 for 5-year planning process
  • Work closely with the Seeds Integrated Business Planning Manager to ensure alignment of volume and financial forecasts, with a focus on updating the 5-year plan trait mix, treatment mix, pricing, discounts, etc.
  • Leads and facilitates Local Product Concept Team(s) which are cross functional, responsible for business case development to ensure investment in innovation for the region documented with Innovation Launch plans, and ensure documentation and communication of the portfolio gaps and breeding goals with local and global R&D teams.
  • Leads Innovation Launch plans 3-years prior to launch to 2 years after launch to maximize effectiveness and deliver business case commitments
  • Input on behalf of the region into the 15-year planning process lead by the Global Crop Leaders
  • Primary Commercial Unit connection with Global Crop leaders / global product managers / business development / Program Managers / R&D and breeding to support strategy, business case development planning, and detailed project plans.
  • Represent Canadian Business on Global Crop teams as required.
  • Contribute to the overall regional strategy to ensure cross-portfolio and cross-functional focus on customer success based on the overall customer strategy, route to market and sales enablement
  • Third party negotiation for licensing technology from Corteva (in conjunction with the Seeds trait Licensing Manager
  • Collaboration with Area Sales Teams to effectively build & execute portfolio strategy, input into customer & channel partner strategy and achieve Sales Area objectives.
  • Participate in relevant Industry boards to further Corteva\'s position in the Canadian Agriculture industry and protect our interests, creating connections with other industry participants and influencers.

Education
  • Minimum bachelor\'s degree in agriculture or marketing.
  • Master\'s degree would be considered an asset.
Experience
  • 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, or related position.
Additional info & preferences
  • This position will work across Canada.
  • Location is Canada, with a preference for Calgary Alberta
  • Travel could be as much as 30% and will require overnight travel.
