\xe2\x80\x8bPosition Title: Seed Farm SupervisorPosition Type: Regular - Full-Time \xe2\x80\x8bPosition Location: Florenceville MainRequisition ID: 31202\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8bWe are seeking a dedicated Seed Farm Supervisor to join our team, reporting directly to the Seed Farm Manager. In this role, you will assist in the oversight and management of growing field crops, including seed potatoes, grains, and cover crops. Your primary focus will be on directing daily activities related to planting, growing, harvesting, and storing seed potatoes to ensure the highest yields and cleanest seed for our farm operations.   • Co-ordinate, assist and supervise the day to day work activities of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • Supervise and oversee growing, crop maintenance, harvesting and other crop-related operations.
  • Inspect crops and fields to determine maturity, yield, work requirements, such as cultivating, rogueing, or harvesting.
  • Evaluate weather and soil conditions
  • Assist Farm Manager with Agronomic decisions.
  • Work with customer growers to ensure that seed produced is meeting their needs
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are being followed by workers and visitors at all times.
  • Maintain quality control, production, and safety records.
  • Direct and assist in repair and proper working of machines and equipment used on the farm.
  • Oversee sorting & overall handling of produce to ensure highest possible quality of products.
  • Potato storage monitoring and management, including cleaning and repairs.
  • Snow removal at storages and office buildings
  • Perform other duties as instructed by the management.
  • May perform general farm duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
  • Post secondary education in Agriculture preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in agriculture, potato experience preferred. (A combination of education and experience will be considered.)
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop new agronomic techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage an efficient team.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and timely.
  • Experience using and operating farm machinery relating to the planting and harvesting of potato crops or other similar crops.
  • Proven problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Willing to work flexible hours is a requirement and extended hours around planting and harvesting.
  • Sprayer Application License required or willing to become licensed upon hire.
  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver license considered an asset.
  • Experience operating farm equipment also considered an asset.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
OTHER INFORMATION:Work environment will include working outside in all kinds of weather conditions. Some manual work may be required.
