JOIN US IN MAKING EXCELLENT CARE PERSONAL! The safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors is of the utmost importance at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH). We are looking for a highly competent and professional security officer to join our team to help maintain a safe and secure environment. Our ideal candidate you will have prior experience as a security officer or guard, as well as training in self-defence and first aid. You will have a sharp eye with quick reaction time and outstanding interpersonal skills.
As a security officer at GBGH you are responsible for ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and medical staff at GBGH, as well as the protection, safeguarding and security of assets, personnel, and the hospital property. You will monitor hospital grounds and buildings to prevent theft or other criminal activity, investigate any suspicious activity you encounter, and respond to emergencies as needed.
You may also be tasked with providing general customer service to hospital patients and visitors. This may include answering questions about hospital services or directions to specific locations within GBGH. Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need the Following:
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Security or Basic Security Guard Training certificate
  • Valid Ontario Security Licence (submit a copy with resume or application will not be considered)
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid G driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Completion of International Association for Safety and Security certificate (required to complete within first three months of employment)
  • Proven track record of excellent work performance and attendance history
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a hospital or health care setting an asset
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with those under the Mental Health Act
  • Knowledge of Trespassing Act
  • Experience applying mechanical restraints and models security physical capabilities

ASSETS
  • Ontario Incident Management Course certification or willing to complete within the first three months of employment
  • Current experience with complex security technology and access control systems.
  • Previous experience within a Health Care Setting
  • Bilingual - English and French an asset
