Spectrum Investigation and Security (1998) Limited of Newfoundland and Labrador is currently looking to hire Security Officers to provide security services at a remote site in Central NL. This position will be 12-hour shifts, 2 weeks on/off rotation. Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all persons entering and exiting the Site are identified and authorized to be onsite in accordance with the Policies and Procedures established from time to time by the Client,
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure all non-authorized persons do not gain access to the Site, in the event non-authorized persons gain access to Site monitor and report all activities of such persons as directed by the Client,
- Manage crowd control onsite as directed by the Client, monitor and report activities of crowds, groups or individuals that are congregating at access points to the Site or in the area of the Site,
- Perform lawful searches onsite as directed or authorized by the Client,
- Manage and control all vehicular traffic onsite as directed by the Client, enforcement of all Site rules or regulations specific to vehicle use or vehicles as directed by the Client,
- Control and monitor access and egress to any building or areas of the Site as directed by the Client, take reasonable and lawful steps to ensure persons that are in non-authorized areas leave such areas, provide security services in the Accommodation Complexes or any other buildings as directed by the Client,
- Enforcement of Accommodation Complex rules and policies established by the Client from time to time, control, manage and report any incidents onsite whereby individuals threaten or engage in any form of physical assault,
- Conduct or participate in investigations as required from time to time,
- Perform onsite patrols as directed by the Client,
- Comply with all standing orders and perform such other services as may be required.
- Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations.
- Write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records using effective communication skills.
- Follow and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
- Handle private and confidential information with a high amount of discretion.
- Present a professional image to the public.
- Adhere to our Code of Ethics in performing job requirements.
- Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Adapt to a variety of environmental factors and extreme weather conditions while performing exterior patrols.
- A minimum of five years\' experience as a Security Officer in an industrial setting, and/or the equivalent as a law enforcement officer or similar background, such as military police or habitat enforcement would be an asset.
- Successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalency
- Successfully complete recognized Security Officer Program
- Must have and maintain the following:
- Security Officer Training Program or equivalent
- A valid Class 5 driver\'s license
- A clear record of conduct/criminal background check
- Regulatory requirements to be employed as a Security Officer
- Must obtain with 30 days of hiring and maintain the following:
- Online Construction Safety certification
- WHMIS training
- Two-day Standard First Aid certification with CPR
- Comply with all site access requirements of the Client
- Successfully complete training in a form approved by the Company or the Client or have demonstrated competencies for the following:
- Investigation Skills and Report Writing
- Defensive Driving
- Use of Force
- Crowd Control
- Crisis Intervention
- Must be proficient in use of a computer and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel
- and Outlook and good communication skills, including proven English language written and spoken skills
- Must be professional when communicating with strong public relations skills
- Must submit to a pre-employment medical
- Medical/Physical Fitness Testing
- Pre-Employment A&D Testing
