Job Title Security Manager
Summary Reporting to the General Manager, the role of the Security Manager is to actively oversee and participate in the Security Department for a commercial real estate portfolio retail and office buildings located in Halifax Nova Scotia, deliver the highest standards for a safe and secure retail and office environment; to protect owner assets/properties and mitigate risk.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
\xc2\xb7 Development and implementation of a Security and Life Safety Plan for each asset in the portfolio;
\xc2\xb7 Development and ongoing communication with retail and office tower tenants as it relates to security;
\xc2\xb7 Leads, oversee, mentors and motivates a team of Security officers and supervisors to ensure the day-to-day Security and Life Safety operations of the properties are completed and handled in a professional and timely manner;
\xc2\xb7 Provides a comprehensive, customer service focused security training program and continually develops enhancements to the program;
\xc2\xb7 Develop, implement and ensure that proper Security procedures are known to and followed by all staff including, but not limited to; security programs, reporting of liability claims, completion of occurrence reports, property inspections, occupational health & safety, building access controls etc;
\xc2\xb7 Develop and foster ongoing inter-departmental co-operation and communication
\xc2\xb7 Establish and maintain key contacts with internal, tenant, public authority, supplier, and security industry stakeholders including local police, fire and emergency medical services representatives;
\xc2\xb7 Prepare, in conjunction with General Manager, the annual Security and Life Safety budgets;
\xc2\xb7 Reviews and approves budgets relating to annual departmental expenditures, such as on security contracts, salaries, and capital, before final sign-off by appropriate company signing authorities
\xc2\xb7 Develop, implement, maintain/update comprehensive Threat Assessments, Crisis Response Plans, Emergency/Fire/Life Safety Plans for the properties;
\xc2\xb7 Development and implementation of emergency procedures, disaster recovery plans, building, access control, security systems, reports and recommendations;
\xc2\xb7 Manage each property\xe2\x80\x99s Occupational Health & Safety program and act as committee chair;
\xc2\xb7 Other duties as assigned by General Manager For a more specific list of duties, see attached.
Skills & Experience Required:
The successful candidate will possess:
\xc2\xb7 A minimum of three (5) years of security experience in a management role (preferably in an office / retail environment) \xe2\x80\x93 or equivalent work experience;
\xc2\xb7 Proven management and supervision skills;
\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary degree in law enforcement a definite asset;
\xc2\xb7 Fully competent in all aspects of health and safety legislation;
\xc2\xb7 Familiar with fire equipment/systems, security systems;
\xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of CCTV, Building Codes, Non-Smoking Bylaws and WHMIS;
\xc2\xb7 Must be public relations and customer service focused;
\xc2\xb7 Must have strong organizational, prioritization, time management skills
\xc2\xb7 Excellent inter-personal skills; Strong coaching, mentoring, training and motivational skills;
\xc2\xb7 Able to work in a \xe2\x80\x98Team\xe2\x80\x99 environment;
\xc2\xb7 Be self-motivated, self-confident, diplomatic, innovative and able to accept challenges;
\xc2\xb7 Superior written and oral communication skills;
\xc2\xb7 Computer literacy (a working knowledge of the Perspective incident reporting program would be an asset);
\xc2\xb7 A proficiency in basic accounting, including the development and administration of operational department budgets;
\xc2\xb7 Must provide a clear criminal clearance certificate;
\xc2\xb7 A valid Nova Scotia drivers\xe2\x80\x99 license
