Duties

The investigator provides guidance and assistance to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) management on all criminal, investigative, legal and socio-political issues, and in the development, functioning, administration, maintenance, reporting and compliance of all aspects of the DEA Country Office Mission, criminal investigations, data analysis, liaison activities and training. Under the general supervision of the DEA Country Attach\xc3\xa9, the investigator will participate in conducting and coordinating the investigation of highly complex and sensitive international criminal investigations using recognized investigative methods and techniques, which may include appearing in courts to present evidence. The investigator will be required to research, analyze, assimilate, evaluate, coordinate, and disseminate investigative information relating to a specific area of assignment or subject matter.
The investigator will participate in multi-agency committees as a representative of the organization and may be empowered to make agreements in accordance with previously received guidance. The investigator will develop program goals in consultation with the Country Attach\xc3\xa9, devise work-plans to achieve these goals, plan and initiate investigations in the full range of DEA\xe2\x80\x99s investigative responsibility, advise personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa and other government officers in matters of drug importation and distribution, bulk cash smuggling, and money laundering within Canada and internationally on a routine basis. The investigator will act as a consultant and primary point-of-contact to numerous external host governments, non-government, third country, law enforcement and private sector contacts. The investigator will research, receive, store, draft, edit, disseminate all pertinent information and correspondence, ensure all DEA functions are completed in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner and perform other DEA Ottawa CO duties as directed by the Attach\xc3\xa9 or Assistant Attach\xc3\xa9.


Qualifications and Evaluations



Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years verifiable experience conducting criminal/intelligence investigations with law enforcement and police forces in Canada is required.
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school. Completion of a certified law enforcement program, such as police academy, or equivalent law enforcement/intelligence investigations training program is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluent English (speaking/reading/writing) is required. This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess and maintain a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and passport.
