Duties: This Physical Security Advisor position resides within Corporate Security. This position
complements an existing team of security experts and provides subject matter expertise with
regards to physical security deployments, plans, delivery, and methodologies. Fundamentally, this
role ensures BC Hydro maintains integrated physical security that protects our facilities, people,
and operations. This includes conducting risk and vulnerability assessments and ensuring the
technology and/or physical security posture being deployed is forward thinking, and integrates
with operational requirements, and at a minimum meets critical infrastructure protection
requirements. The role will ensure rigorous security standards are met along with appropriately
manage associated costs. The position will establish strong working relationships with internal
business units, at all levels of the organization, and with external law enforcement, intelligence
and partner agencies.
Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure
Protection standards is an asset. The role requires strong communication skills to be a change
agent for and promote a culture of good security.
Summary of the Role:
Candidates should demonstrate effective collaboration abilities to achieve objectives. The position
will have primary responsibility for immediate oversight of the enterprise-wide guard operations
which may include such things as security operations planning, guard deployment audits, field
inspection and testing, and recommendations for future improvements. In addition, the position will
support security operations across all BC Hydro work sites, including incident response. The
position may conduct or support investigations and will do so in a professional manner, ensuring
privacy.
