About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Enterprise Security Senior Manager, Cenovus is seeking a Security Professional that will be responsible for contributing to the success of the Operational Security Program. The successful candidate will be a teammate and will contribute to and support all Cenovus Enterprise Security objectives. The position will demand strong industrial technical security skills including the design, implementation and management of physical security solutions including integrated CCTV, Access Systems and Alarms and their associated technical support programs.

The successful candidate will provide technical subject matter expertise during the planning of new projects and facilities and make recommendations as infrastructure usage or risk levels change. This position is Calgary based but will require visits to all operational areas as required to support security operations, conduct investigations, complete security vulnerability assessments and support regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will address these daily challenges by using their proven experience and demonstrate a high level of initiative along with excellent relationship building, problem solving, communication and leadership talents.

Responsibilities:

Ensure Enterprise Security supports Cenovus purpose and values and contributes to a safe workplace

Provide support to projects including development of project execution plans, budgeting, sourcing and scheduling security contractors and service providers

Provide security support during Emergency Management activations including acting as a subject matter expert in the Emergency Operations Center

Provide Security Plans related to regulated operational assets and support inspections and audits by regulators as required

Accountable for the development and implementation of security policy and procedures in various areas of Field Operations as well as conducting, implementing and maintaining security vulnerability assessment solutions

Responsible for implementing a security education and awareness program at Cenovus

Work collaboratively with Operations, Infrastructure, Field Accommodations and IT Teams to assess risk and provide security solutions while ensuring operational assets meet regulatory compliance

Work collaboratively and provide advice and guidance to business units on various security related issues as required

Oversee security contracts including Security Service Providers, Access and Orientation and Security Consultants in operational areas

Conduct or support security investigations related to Cenovus policy or practice violations

Assist in the implementation of corporate policies including the Cenovus Alcohol and Drug Program and Search Procedure

Review security incidents to develop and implement corrective actions

Provide Security support during special events and activities as required

Liaison with Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies on matters that may increase risk to operational assets

Qualifications:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

10+ years industrial security related experience preferably in the Energy Sector

Possess a University Degree or relevant Post-Secondary Education

Professional security designation, Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) or be working towards one

Strong working knowledge of physical security design including implementation and management of physical security applications and hardware

Strong understanding of applicable security regulatory compliance in Canada and the U.S.

Previous law enforcement experience is an asset

Experience in leadership/supervisory positions

Dispute/conflict resolution skills

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

Excellent problem solving and written/verbal communication skills
