INTRODUCTION:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.
We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
monitoring cameras
ensuring all visitors and contractors sign in and out and issuing badges that visitors and contractors must wear visibly while in the building
denying access to unauthorized persons
monitoring fire and security panel
reporting deficiencies of unsecured doors or unsafe building conditions to the Contract Manager or on-site YRP staff
completing a daily status report detailing the pertinent details of the completed shift and any information to be passed on to the next shift and to the Contract Manager
carrying a YRP-issued communication device at all times during the shift at HQ
monitoring deliveries at the security gate and contacting the designated YRP member for pickup of deliveries
raising and lowering flags as requested by the Contract Manager
occasionally salting front steps to prevent slips and falls
assisting members of the public with any questions and directing them to the appropriate individual/group
assisting YRP staff with other duties, as assigned
in the event of a fire alarm, Security Personnel shall identify the location of the alarm on the fire panel, contact YRP facilities staff via YRP-issued radio, rendezvous with the firefighters as they arrive at the front entrance of the building and report to the Fire Marshall for further instructions
if requested by the Fire Department, Security Personnel shall "escort" the Fire Department to investigate alarms
security Personnel will be trained by the Contract Manager on the fire panel reset procedure and will perform such procedure when directed by Fire Department
when visitors or contractors check in at the reception desk, they will be issued with visitor or contractor badges respectively by Security Personnel
security Personnel will advise these registered visitors and contractors that these badges must be visibly displayed at all times while in the building
additionally, the Security Personnel must contact the requesting Bureau/Unit to escort the contractor while they are in the building
