Security Guard
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled at de-escalating situations, supporting both adults and youth, and maintaining a calm and secure environment. This role is essential to ensuring the safety of our residents, staff, and visitors through active engagement and prevention-focused security practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and patrol the facility, including interior and exterior spaces, to ensure the safety and well-being of all occupants.
Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or incidents, including situations involving emotional distress or conflict.
Use CCTV and other surveillance tools to identify unusual or suspicious activity.
Support the enforcement of program guidelines and maintain a respectful, non-confrontational presence.
Assist in de-escalating tense or potentially volatile situations using trauma-informed, non-violent communication strategies.
Complete, clear, accurate incident reports and daily logs.
Conduct routine safety checks of the grounds, entrances, and equipment.
Provide courteous and professional support to clients, staff, and visitors.
Liaise with emergency responders or law enforcement if required.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in security, mental health/addiction services, or community support roles is an asset.
Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills; experience working with vulnerable populations is highly valued.
Ability to remain calm and think clearly under pressure.
Physically able to walk and stand for long periods, and respond quickly in emergencies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be in good physical and mental health.
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where exposure to stress, noise, and emotionally charged situations may occur.
Availability for evening, weekend, and occasional extended shifts is required.
Valid security guard license/certification as per Manitoba regulations.
