SECURITY GUARD - HOMELESS SHELTER

Full Time - Mon-Fri
0600hrs - 1400hrs
1400hrs - 2100hrs

Part Time - Sat & Sun
0600hrs - 1400hrs
1400hrs - 2100hrs

$18 - $20 / hr

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties

Physical protection of the property and its employees. Conduct proactive patrols of the building exterior and surrounding parking accommodations, with the objective of detecting, deterring, and documenting suspicious and/or prohibited activities including vandalism and disorderly conduct. Provide a physical presence within the cafeteria space, with the objective of detecting, deterring, and de-escalating prohibited activities including vandalism and disorderly conduct. Removal of undesirable persons from the premises. Submit daily shift activity notes to management. Provide "safe walk" escorts within the boundaries of the property.

Job Requirements

Able to work mornings, nights, weekends and holidays appropriate to the business needs. Able to work in an environment where frequent drug use is present. Able to work in an environment heavily populated by those suffering from mental health and addiction. Consistent and reliable attendance required. Adhere to Tacit Security dress code policy. Demonstrate leadership by maintaining objective and professional approaches to emergencies and unlawful activity. Demonstrate positive public relations by adopting tactical empathy towards clients, and fostering positive interactions with security personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years security experience. Strong communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Intermediate computer skills. High School graduate or equivalent. Must be able to stand/walk for an 8-hour shift. Must be able to conduct exterior duties during adverse weather conditions. Hold a valid Manitoba Security License

WHAT TO EXPECT

Tacit Security personnel are responsible for ensuring our client's safety and security. They are held to the highest level of professionalism in the course of executing their duties, ensuring that all uniforms and equipment are properly fitted, worn, clean, and functional. Many of our members are well trained, and come with years of experience and expertise in various aspects of Security. Once within our ranks, you will be tasked with patrols and inspections of the properties we protect, with the goal of mitigating and responding to fire, theft, vandalism, illegal activity, and any other threats to the safety and security of our clients and their assets. You will be the first line of defense against many of these threats, and will often make the initial contact with appropriate Emergency Response organizations, such as EMS, Police, and Fire departments. You are a problem solver, and will make quick decisions under stressful situations. Utilizing industry leading technology, you will document evidence and complete daily reports outlining observations and activities during assigned shifts.
