Security Guard

LOCATION: City Centre Park located at 1097 Langford Parkway, Victoria BC.

DEPARTMENT: Langford Lanes and City Centre Grille

REPORTS TO: Hospitality & Guest Services Manager

HOURS: Part-time. Friday and Saturday evenings.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

Reporting to the Hospitality & Guest Services Manager the Security Guard is to maintain safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. The Employee is expected to be a team player, provide positive leadership, and liaise between facility staff and community.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enforce responsible alcohol management; be knowledgeable in current BC Liquor Laws. Assist with emergency procedure, including evacuation, when necessary. Respond to all building emergencies, including guest and facility related emergencies, in a lead or supportive role. Documenting any Guest/User or Employee incidents, including accident or injury, in the required WorkSafe documentation and submitting those to the Manager of Hospitality & Guest Services immediately Manage the use of force as a defensive/protective reaction to assaultive behavior. Provide excellent service to guests, other employees and the general public. Follow and enforce City Centre Park policies, procedures, code of conduct and safety guidelines to protect the safety and wellbeing of all guests and facilities and to effectively manage crowds. Secures premises and personnel by patrolling facility; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Monitoring crowd control at assigned facilities. Comply with legal requirements and local governing bodies. Provide excellent professional customer service, even in tense situations Take proactive measures to prevent/diffuse the risk of confrontation and to maintain safety habits and standards. Checking in with department managers and supervisors during shift to provide additional monitoring as needed Communicating any concerns regarding customer behaviour to the Manager/Supervisor on Duty to mitigate and prevent any potential safety issues or incidents Perform other duties where qualified.

REQUIREMENTS/COMPENTENCIES

Standard 1stAid or higher Valid BC Security Worker License Advance Security Training certificate an asset. Clean Criminal Record Check Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols Mentally and physically able to deal with conflict situations and other assigned tasks. Extended periods of standing and walking.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The above job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of working being performed by people assigned to this classification. Employee will be subject to working in other facilities and outdoors as the position requires and may have to manage a number of people and projects at one time. The employee may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of clients. The employee may find the environments to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. This job requires shift work, evenings, weekends and holidays fluctuating with the needs of the facility.
