Required Position
The Office of Campus Safety is seeking Full-Time Temporary Security Guards.
This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and/or hours of work, and is comprised of 40 hours per week. This includes evenings and/or weekend shifts. Applicants must be willing to work shift work.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, the successful candidate will provide a higher level of security, fire protection, and health and safety to all students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the protection of property.
Enforce laws and regulations on campus;
Direct traffic and enforce traffic regulations;
Investigate complaints, offences and traffic accidents;
Conduct security and fire patrols of campus buildings and grounds;
Perform traffic and crowd control at special events;
Supply information to the general public of a regulatory and directional nature;
Provide first-response emergency assistance;
Provide money escorts, collection, maintenance of machines and delivery to the Treasury Department;
Maintain parking equipment;
Provide monthly inspections of emergency phones, parking lots and elevators;
Submit reports concerning assigned activities; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
College diploma preferably in Law and Security
Two (2) to three (3) years of security or police experience
In possession of a current Ontario Security Guard license;
In possession of a current "G" Ontario Driver's license in good standing;
In possession of a driver's abstract in good standing;
Ability to work at the Ramsey Lake location and the McEwen School of Architecture;
Good health and physical condition;
Ability to work independently;
Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills;
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR 'C' with defibrillator training; and
