Seating Devices Technician, Neuromotor Program - Rehab Technology

The Seating Devices Technician reports operationally to the Program Manager and for practice general supervision reports to the Senior Positioning Devices Technician, and is responsible for measuring, customizing, fabricating and delivering positioning and mobility systems for children, both onsite and outreach to meet the specific and unique needs of children with physical and developmental disabilities.

What you'll do

  • Measure, draft, fabricate, design and customize equipment for the positioning needs of children. Assess the effectiveness of the equipment and adjusts as necessary.
  • Fabricate custom fitted seating systems for clients and performs modifications on mainstream consumer product, customization of commercial adaptive equipment and fabricate custom designed unique products to meet specific patient needs.
  • Consult with manufacturers of equipment regarding their design and production of new equipment.
  • With the approval of the Program Manager or Designate, orders shop equipment and maintain departmental supplies and materials.
  • Prepare and present manuals and workshops to parents, community therapists and technicians on the principles, maintenance and adjustment of seating systems.
  • Participate in research and development activities of the Rehabilitation Technology Service of the Neuromotor Program.
What you bring
  • Post secondary education or specialized training related to seating, alternate positioning, mobility, mounting or positioning of other assistive technologies
  • Two (2) year's of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
