About Vernon Winter Carnival
For over 60 years, the Vernon Winter Carnival has been a cornerstone of community
celebration, tradition, and winter fun in the North Okanagan. As one of the largest and
longest-running winter festivals in Western Canada, we bring people together through
an exciting lineup of events, entertainment, and community spirit. The 2026 Carnival
runs from February 6-15, 2026, and we're looking for an enthusiastic and organized
Seasonal Office Administrator to help make it our best year yet!
Position Summary
The Seasonal Office Administrator plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Vernon Winter Carnival office in the months leading up to and during the festival. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, loves working with people, and is detail-oriented with strong administrative skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provide warm, professional front-desk support for visitors, volunteers, and
community members
Manage volunteer scheduling and office calendar
Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries
Assist with event registration and ticket sales
Maintain spreadsheets, calendars, and internal systems
Prepare event packages, supplies, and signage
Offer administrative support to staff and board members
Help schedule social media posts, assist with basic content creation, and engage
with the community online
Support event logistics and supply organization as needed
Qualifications Required:
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills - must thrive in a
team setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience using Canva, Facebook, and Instagram
Comfortable working with email, scheduling tools, and online forms
Ability to multitask and work independently
Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
Assets (Nice to Have):
Previous experience in event coordination or volunteer management
Knowledge of Vernon and the surrounding area
Background in customer service or retail
Work Schedule
Flexible hours in November and March
Increased hours in December, January, and early February leading up to and
during the festival
Some evening and weekend availability may be required during the Carnival
period
Compensation
Hourly Wage: $25.00-$30.00 hourly - based on experience
Contract Type: Temporary/Seasonal, with potential for renewal in future years
