Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm; 2:30pm to 10:30pm. Weekend 7am to 3pm; 2:30pm to 10:30pm.

What does a One-on-One Youth Support do?

As a 1:1 youth support, you'll have the opportunity to hang out with an amazing youth daily. Your typical shift will look like supervising a youth with varying abilities from the start of your shift, ensuring they get their medication, assisting them to get ready for school, providing transportation to school, and then objectively documenting any highlights or concerns. On school breaks and PD days you may have an opportunity to work full 8 hour shifts where your time may be spent exploring the community, supporting life skill development, and transporting/accompanying to any scheduled appointments and following through on their case plans.




What your shift looks like!




Building positive, healthy relationships; Being a positive role model and mentor; Supporting the youth in meeting their goals; Assisting the youth in developing life skills; Supporting the youth in their daily tasks such as cleaning, sleep journal mindfulness activities, keeping appointments, and completing daily routine. Upholding boundaries and consequences; Effectively intervening in challenging behavioural environments; Managing crisis situations; Mediating between youth when conflicts occur; Administering medications as directed by supervisor; communicating regarding incidents, medication, and youth whereabouts at EVERY shift change; Reading all logs, emails, communication notes, memos, and relevant documentation (e.g. incident reports); Completing all logs and designated documentation before end of shift; Tracking participant outcomes; Attending regular staff meetings; Other tasks as assigned by your Case Manager: e.g. assisting with other youth in the peer-home as needed, supporting Street Culture fundraising/social entrepreneurial initiatives etc..



What you bring to the table!




An unrestricted Canadian/Saskatchewan driver's licence

Criminal Record Check

with

Vulnerable Sector Clearance

Cultural awareness required

Ability to remain calm in escalated/crisis situations Strong written and verbal communication skills Knowledge and experience working with: An Indigenous population Vulnerable populations with challenging behaviours Youth with varying abilities, cognitive impairments, and developmental delays Youth currently or previously having experienced exploitation Youth struggling with substance misuse or addictions Youth currently or previously gang affiliated Youth centred philosophy, trauma informed care, & strength based approaches Mac Computers, Microsoft Office, Google Drive Preference will be given to applicants with: Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention, & DPVS ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, & Suicide Prevention Training CPR/First-Aid (B), Water & Food Safety certifications
