While supporting Calgary Transit as a Scheduling & Planning Student Researcher , you will build lasting relationships with industry leaders, and contribute to work that will build and strengthen your skill sets. Primary duties include:

  • Data analysis in support of route planning and scheduling, including: how routes are designed and scheduled, schedule adherence and run times, ridership patterns and distribution, and public engagement feedback.
  • Assist in developing business cases for service optimization projects such as Transit Service Reviews and service growth.
  • Research into best practices in scheduling and service disruptions used in transit agencies across North America.
  • Assist Transit Service Design in developing and implementing service disruption plans.
  • Support Transit Service Design with operator and customer service requests and projects.







Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree in Business, Planning, Computer Science or GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and GIS ).

  • A Valid class 5 Driver\'s Licence (or provincial equivalent) and the use of personal vehicle is required.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills.
  • Focus on attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Demonstrates openness to share knowledge and ideas.
  • Communicates well with others, ensuring that messages are clear, understood and appropriate.
Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2023.

  • If invited to an interview, you will be asked to provide an unofficial transcript or an enrollment verification letter (indicating the program and year you are currently completing).

  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator\'s permit.

Compensation: $26.63 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
