Job Description




As part of a team of IS professionals that comprise a Winnipeg based SAP Centre of Excellence providing sustainment and development services to Canada and Europe, the SAP Basis Administrator will fulfil system administration responsibilities for our SAP Enterprise Application solutions.

We are seeking talented technologists interested in beginning a career sustaining and developing our global SAP platforms. We are introducing multiple new SAP technologies within our Global Corporate Technology solutions space and are looking for highly motivated and self-directed individuals that thrive on learning and embracing new challenges.

What you will do

  • Act as an integral part of a talented group of SAP support team members
  • Provide technical (hands on) support for SAP operational issues
  • Respond and solve incidents and issues that may occur on our SAP systems
  • Perform monitoring and performance tuning on SAP systems
  • Perform monitoring and performance tuning on Oracle and HANA databases
  • Coordinate the implementation of configuration changes
  • Configure and manage all additional platform capabilities, including job scheduling, output management, backup management, technical security, and technical connectivity between software components
  • Participate in SAP system installations and upgrades
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation to minimize and resolve operational issues
What you will bring
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ideal experience: 3 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years as a Linux / Unix system administrator, preferably with Red Hat Linux
  • Knowledge of and ability to use scripting & programming languages
  • Solid understanding of network services
  • Effective internal consulting skills with a strong customer service orientation
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Thrives in an environment that is complex and constantly evolving
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server would be an asset
  • Knowledge of SAP Basis technology would be an asset
  • Knowledge of IaaS, SaaS, PaaS technologies would be an asset
