Job purpose:
The Sales Performance Manager (SPM) has a pivotal role in creating and leading a high performing Sales culture. Goal oriented with a passion for driving sales, the PSM will lead a team of 12-15 sales professionals, driving performance excellence through effective coaching, monitoring, and strategic guidance. The Sales Per role is critical to achieving our company's revenue goals and maintaining high standards of customer service in the travel industry.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Team Leadership & Development
Manage a team of 12-15 travel sales consultants, providing regular coaching and performance feedback
Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with team members to review individual performance metrics
Ensure staff understand and effectively apply training provided by L&D
Reinforce training concepts through observation, feedback, and practical application
Create career development plans for team members to foster growth and retention
Recruitment & Performance Conversations
Participate actively in the hiring process for new sales team members
Conduct initial screening and competency-based interviews for potential candidates
Lead tough conversations regarding performance issues with accountability and clarity
Deliver constructive feedback in challenging situations while maintaining professionalism
Execute performance improvement plans with clear metrics and timelines
Make recommendations to terminate and terminate when necessary, following company procedures
Handle conflict resolution within the team professionally and effectively
Provide documentation and evidence for HR decisions regarding performance issues (including documentation in the form of PIP's performance improvement plans as needed)
Performance Management
Ensure 70% of team members consistently achieve or exceed their sales targets
Monitor and maintain key conversion metrics: 90% leads-to-quote ratio
Drive quote-to-booking conversion rates to meet company targets
Oversee total gross sales performance of the team against established goals
Implement performance improvement plans for underperforming team members
Add monitoring and reporting on Supervisor's KPI's on a monthly basis
RISE Career Path Management
Actively manage team members' progression through the RISE development path (Rookie, Intermediate, Senior, Expert)
Assess and evaluate staff competencies to determine appropriate RISE classification
Create individualized development plans to help team members advance to the next RISE level
Conduct quarterly RISE assessment reviews to track progress and identify growth opportunities
Prepare and deliver monthly RISE progression reports to senior leadership
Identify and nurture high-potential team members for accelerated advancement
Collaborate with L&D to ensure appropriate training resources are available for each RISE level
Sales Process Optimization
Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
Collaborate with marketing and Commercial Team to optimize lead quality and volume
Refine sales scripts and processes to improve conversion rates
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
Sales Training
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and present weekly and monthly performance reports to senior management
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team and individual sales consultants
Identify patterns in customer preferences and market trends to inform sales strategies
Provide detailed reporting on RISE progression metrics and team development achievements
Participate in annual reviews, new packages etc.
What are we looking for?
Required
3+ years of sales management experience, preferably in the travel or hospitality industry
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding team sales targets
Strong understanding of sales metrics and performance management principles
Excellence in coaching and developing sales talent
Data analysis skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
Experience with career development frameworks or talent progression systems
Preferred
Degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or related field
Experience with CRM systems and sales analytics tools
Understanding of travel industry products, services, and market dynamics
History of successful team leadership in a metrics-driven environment
Certification in coaching or talent development methodologies
