POSITION OVERVIEW:



This position is primarily responsible for the direct sales of guest room, meeting and conference business in all market segments. You will work closely with the regional Diamond Hotels Sales department to achieve targets and develop the sales strategy. This position will also coordinate all onsite meeting and conference services for clients.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:



Direct Sales (40% of time)



Prospect for potential new business through direct telephone and email solicitations and market research, on a continual basis. Maintain weekly quotas for telephone solicitations, outside sales calls and site inspections, as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned (guest room tours, property tours, special guest requests, maintaining calendars, answering phones, handling of mail, faxes, etc.) Conduct ongoing market research by compiling information from local directories, newspapers, trade journals & other publications. Conduct ongoing competition analysis by surveying local hotel parking lots, lobby boards, and reporting findings. Participate in out-of-town direct sales trips and tradeshows, as required. Assist in the achievement of budgeted hotel revenues. Participate in community special events and committees on an on-going basis, maintaining the positive public image and top-of-mind awareness of Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie

Administrative (30% of time)



Prepare proposals and contracts, as required, for volume guest room, meeting or conference business. Follow up all proposals in a timely fashion. Participate in weekly sales meetings, reporting in writing weekly sales activities. Develop strong customer relationships through appropriate client communication and the use of professional and courteous interaction. Continuous follow-up with the client prior to the meeting to detail all aspects of the convention/meeting. Responsible for maintaining a well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file system in order to efficiently serve the client and department needs. Respond to client calls and special requests and obtain final details, billing instructions, dates, times, and hotel room and meeting room requirements prior to meeting date.

Operations (30% of time)



Act as the logistics and service liaison between convention/meeting clients and all hotel departments. Responsible for co-ordinating all phases of group meeting/banquet functions. Coordinate outside vendor services needs where appropriate (i.e. AV equipment, linens, Food & Beverage, etc.) Meet and greet clients on site. Set-up group blocks and correspond with the front desk manager on a weekly basis to monitor. Collect signed contracts and correspond with other departments to ensure the proper delivery of negotiated services.
The above areas of responsibility are not all inclusive and may be amended from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Previous Sales experience an asset, preferably in a hospitality related industry Must be extremely detail oriented Travel will be required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask Mature and uses tact and diplomacy at all times Available to work flexible hours and days of week A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required
