SSR Mining \xe2\x80\x93 Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Safety & Training Advisor - Underground.

About Your New Role:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Training, the Safety & Training Advisor - Underground, will liaise with the Mine Operations crew to provide underground mobile training adhering to the health and safety standards as established by SGO to improve training and safety where possible. This position will involve collaboration with creating and maintaining training procedures and manuals. You will be part of the team responsible for providing site safety onsite and training and new employee orientations for all site personnel.
Being an underground operation, participating in our mine rescue program would be a considered an asset to this position.

Your Key Responsibilities:


  • Mentor and train SGO personnel as required.

  • Improve training and safety standards.

  • Adhere to all training and safety procedures and promote company standards.

  • Develop and prepare training and safety records.

  • Assess an employee\xe2\x80\x99s mobile equipment pre-knowledge and skills.

  • Training the workforce on underground mechanized/mobile mining equipment, as well as non-mechanized equipment.

  • Coordinate training activities and maintain administrative functions.

  • Conducting theoretical training in a classroom environment and practical training at the worksite.

  • Support and facilitate the development, design, and evaluation of mobile training programs.

  • Support site culture through Health and Safety Management Program.

  • Input required data as directed by the Training Superintendent.

  • Facilitate risk assessments and incident investigations.


Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrate a drive, self-motivated and passionate approach to the health & safety profession.

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment systems would be considered an advantage.

  • Strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.

  • Member of Mine Rescue and/or Emergency Preparedness would be an asset.

  • Mine Rescue or Mine Rescue Instructor Certificate would be an asset.


Your Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the mining industry or in a similar role within the resources sector considered an asset.


About Our Working Conditions:
This position has a schedule of two (2) weeks on, two (s) weeks off at our remote camp in northern Saskatchewan, working 11-hour days with possibility of unscheduled overtime required on occasion. You will be required to fly in fly out of the site on designated days from a pick-up point in either Saskatoon, Prince Albert or La Ronge.
