Position We are seeking a Manager, Health, Safety & Training for a full-time/regular position. This is a fly-in, fly-out position at the Minto mine site with travel to Whitehorse, YT and charter flight to site every Thursday travel day. Rotation is 2 weeks on site/2 week off site with availability to engage/support the team; as required. Travel to/from Whitehorse is paid for by the Company. The Ideal Candidate You will have:

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Health and Safety or equivalent;
  • 10-15 years of health and safety experience within mining;
  • Demonstrate good understanding of key safety principles in the mining industry;
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Work effectively and respond quickly under pressure situations;
  • Ability to teach, mentor and motivate others;
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies;
  • Experience conducting exposure assessments and industrial hygiene sampling;
  • Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships;
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Valid driver\'s license;
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, promote and actively engage site personnel to ensure a culture of health and safety and accountability;
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to all site personnel on health and safety initiatives;
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety provincial and local regulations, as well as compliance with Company policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for the health and safety training programs, as required by regulatory agencies and Company policies;
  • Identify, develop, and communicate best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and raise health and safety awareness;
  • Conduct and lead risk assessments to identify and control exposures to workplace hazards;
  • Lead health and safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards;
  • Lead investigation of all accidents, near-miss incidents and occupational injuries, and tracking implementation of preventive/corrective measures as required;
  • Manage workers compensation injuries and return-to-work activities, coordinating with the HR team;
  • Build relationships with health and safety regulators and participate in regulatory health and safety inspections;
  • Maintain records of safety performance and regularly report results and trends to Company management;
  • Report incidents and/or injuries in accordance with regulatory standards and/or company policies and procedures;
  • Manage all industrial hygiene sampling activities and related programs and processes;
  • Responsible for the oversight and direction of the onsite medical and mine rescue teams;
  • Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures;
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties;
  • Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels;
  • Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards;
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.
