What you will do:

• Implement, maintain, assess, audit, and administer the Nutrien Vanscoy Safety System
• Ensure a safe work environment for all employees by maintaining compliance with all applicable safety requirements, leading by example and promoting a safety attitude to all employees
• Drive continuous improvement in all areas of Safety through effective collaboration, cooperation, and communication with Staff and Hourly employees
• Oversee assessments, audits, investigations with the end goal of improving the safety culture on site
• Support Mine and Mill front line and functional management in the implementation of safety programs
• Works in a variety of areas including safety coordination; risk assessments and safety investigations/audits; safety training; safety policies, procedures, and manuals; safety reporting; and supervision of the Safety Department
• Professional liaison with Corporate and Regulatory bodies

What you will bring:

• Minimum 8 years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting required, preferably in Potash Mining
• Attainment of Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is highly desired
• Preference will be given to individuals who have internationally recognized professional or academic qualifications in Engineering, or Occupational/Industrial Health and Safety
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and trust
• Ability to develop a high performing cohesive team
• Good oral and written communication skills, including writing policies, programs and standards.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and safety systems
• Experience with incident investigations and competent in the facilitation of root cause analysis, preferably TapRoot
• Ability to lead effective audits and deliver effective training, coaching and mentoring
