Job Description


Job Purpose:

As a Safety Manager, your primary responsibility will be to implement and oversee all Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention services, programs, and initiatives for our clients at their designated facility or facilities. In this advanced-level position, you will manage complex health and safety issues and provide expert consultation, advice, and leadership support to the facility\'s management. Your role is critical in ensuring that Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention objectives are effectively met, and you will align deployments with corporate and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialized and in-depth consultation and services to leadership, addressing concerns, operations, and compliance issues related to Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention.

Lead and actively participate in special projects, audits (e.g., EHS Assessments), and the development or revision of corporate standard/guideline documents.

Effectively communicate the goals and objectives of the Safety Management System, while continuously driving improvements in safety practices.

Coordinate and manage activities of the Site Central Safety Committee to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Establish and manage comprehensive Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Review and analyze the effectiveness of current safety programs, identifying areas for improvement and recommending necessary updates to policies and procedures.

Develop, coordinate, and facilitate education and training sessions on various Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention topics to enhance employee awareness and compliance.

Monitor safety record-keeping and compliance with regulations, conducting periodic inspections to ensure a safe work environment.

Oversee Fire Prevention Plans and ensure their effective implementation and maintenance.

Collaborate with the Supply group to manage the Contractor Safety process, ensuring contractors adhere to safety standards during their work at the facility.

Possibility of directly managing site 24/7 employee health screening and wellness efforts to promote employee well-being and health.

Coordinate and manage employee industrial health monitoring and testing to proactively address health-related concerns.

Develop and manage the site\'s safety and industrial health budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support safety initiatives.

Manage and lead individuals assigned to the site Fire Prevention crew, fostering a cohesive and well-trained team.

Lead and manage incident investigations and corrective action processes, ensuring lessons are learned to prevent future occurrences.

Take charge of the hazard recognition and hazard reduction/elimination process to mitigate potential risks effectively.

Requirements for Success:

Possess 5 or more years of previous Safety and Industrial Health experience, with a preference for experience in a manufacturing environment.

Demonstrate at least 3 years of supervisory or management or equivalent experience.

Alternatively, showcase a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Display comprehensive knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and local industrial health, safety, and fire prevention rules and regulations.

Exhibit detailed knowledge of safety policies & procedures and fire prevention programs.

Showcase up-to-date knowledge of current supervisory and management techniques to lead the team effectively.

Demonstrate the ability to compile and analyze basic data, develop metrics, and perform cost-benefit analysis to support data-driven decision-making.

Possess a Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in Safety and Health or a related field (preferred).

Hold a recognized health and safety certification or demonstrate the ability to achieve certification.
