The Safety Advisor will play a critical role in promoting a safe working environment by providing support, guidance, and training on health and safety standards. This position involves implementing safety programs, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Safety Advisor will work closely with project managers, supervisors, and field personnel to foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on project sites to identify potential hazards, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and recommend corrective actions.
Lead investigations for accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Deliver safety training and orientation sessions for new and existing employees, including site-specific safety procedures, hazard recognition, and emergency response protocols.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company safety policies.
Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training documentation. Provide regular safety performance reports to management.
Support emergency preparedness efforts, including planning, drills, and response coordination in the event of incidents.
Advocate for a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees at all levels, encouraging hazard reporting, and supporting the company's safety initiatives.
Requirements
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Possession of a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), or equivalent certification is an asset.
Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in the oil and gas, construction, or industrial sector.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to construction industry, and oil and gas sector
Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. Familiarity with incident reporting systems is an asset.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
