Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Ruminant Sales Specialist on a temporary full-time (for approximately 12 months) basis at our Feed Mill in Saskatoon, SK.

What you'll do:

Under the direction of the Feed Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the sale of Ruminant feeds in a designated territory and maximizing customer profitability as well as investigating and resolving all Ruminant claims on behalf of FCL.

  • You will call on Ruminant producers and retail customers in sales territory to promote and sell manufactured Ruminant bulk feed in accordance with the sales budget.
  • You will advise producers on farm, regarding Ruminant nutrition and production management practices. Producers may be customers of the local Retail, so concerns must be communicated.
  • You will advise producers by imparting knowledge of key production parameters such as, Feed Conversion, Average Daily Gain, Calving interval, Days in Milk, and other ruminant production concerns.
  • You will troubleshoot issues and provide solutions.
  • You will follow up with producers to ensure recommendations are being implemented and progress is being made.
  • You will be responsible to train and mentor the Feed Team Advisors as well as producers on all aspects of ruminant production.
  • You will provide guidance to the Livestock and Farm Hardware Category Manager on ruminant production and practices to support seasonal programs and advertising.
  • You will provide training session's specific to ruminant management practices at sales meetings, key retail producer meetings and ruminant producer seminars (approximately 8 seminars per year).
  • You will liaise with government, university, and industry personnel with regard to ruminant nutrition, production and related issues.
  • You will be responsible for investigating and resolving all Ruminant claims on behalf of FCL with the expectation to take a leadership role when dealing with issues and claims on farm. This will include following specific reporting procedures and data entry in JDE handling all concerns until a solution is reached as well as collaborating with the Animal Nutrition and Compliance Manager.
  • You will work with the Home Office Ruminant Nutritionist on feeding programs, program marketing components, and on-farm feeding practices.
  • You will identify opportunities for developing new, innovative products and markets.
  • You will advise on formulations and recommend ingredient adjustments.
  • You will travel to Home Office to train and/or collaborate with Nutritionists on Brill formulation and creating mix sheets.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Sales & Marketing and:
  • You have a bachelor's degree. A Master of Science in Ruminant Nutrition is considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in Ruminant production management practices and nutrition with sales experience (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • A Professional Agrologist (PAg) is required.
