Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Supervisor Advertising and Promotions on a temporary full-time (for approximately 12 months) basis at our Region Office in Edmonton, AB.

What you'll do:

You will be responsible for the development of an advertising and promotions plan that meets the unique needs of TGP independent retails and all corporate operations channels. You will ensure the plan supports the TGP sales strategy and the Business Unit goals and objectives.

Flyers and In-store Savings Programs

  • You will oversee, review, and approve the item selection, pricing, promotional support and spend for the TGP flyer and instore programs. This will include leveraging available resources and vendor support negotiated by HO Food team and ensuring adherence to budget.
  • You will oversee the creation of the flyer, which includes compelling offerings in all categories and that balances stakeholder needs (including client margins and home office spend).
  • You will work closely with Brand and Communications to review created flyers and supporting in-store materials (ex. banners for marquee ads). This will include ensuring final proofing of flyer for accuracy, appropriate item placement, and that materials reflect strategy and messaging pursuant to the promotion plan.
  • You will oversee the delivery of tools to retail clients to assist them in the implementation of the flyer and in-store programs, inventory planning, and store profitability (ex. ad merchandiser, fresh order guides, merchandising tips).
  • You will ensure efficient processes are executed to provide ongoing offering of items and promotional pricing to support in-store advertising programs for customers.
  • You will ensure ongoing monitoring for issues with stock levels (ex. shortage reports) relating to promotional items and follow-up with procurement, adjust promotional activities, and communicate to clients as appropriate.
Advertising and Promotions Plans
  • In alignment with the sales strategy, you will oversee the creation of annual advertising and promotions plans that support business needs and the unique needs of a diverse group of customers (i.e. Independent retails and TGP Corporate stores, Wholesale Market, Cash & Carry). You will work with HO Food to leverage available resources where possible and secure vendor participation as necessary. This includes:
  • Remaining informed about competitor activities, market trends, and consumer behaviors to ensure that plans are consumer focused and responsive to current market trends and client ability to execute.
  • Collaborating with the HO Food team with respect to vendor support for TGP programs and negotiate directly with vendors as required.
  • Providing support and communication to internal and external stakeholders with respect to promotional activities as required.
Special and Localized Promotions
  • You will build engagement and loyalty of business clients and consumers through the delivery of additional promotional activity and contests throughout the year. You will collaborate with the HO Food and Marketing teams to leverage initiatives that can be extended or customized for Independent Business needs. In consultation with Brand & Communications, Operations and Technology teams, you will create unique promotions as required.
  • You will lead development and execution of special and localized promotional activities and programs, including working with Category Managers to secure vendor participation. Participate with the HO Food team in vendor reviews and discussions, as well as UGI activity as required to present TGP information and input.

Who you are:

  • You have a degree, with a preference for Business or Marketing.
  • You have a minimum of 6+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience in promotions, marketing, advertising and/or communications (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Marketing experience in the retail industry is considered an asset.
