RPN - Medical/Prescription Assistant - Permanent Part time (22.5 hrs/week)
KDMPC is a team-based Primary Care Medical Practice with an innovative office flow and dynamic interdisciplinary health care team. Dr. Dharssi works with a team of professionals including a Physician Assistant, Nurses, Medical Assistant (s), Receptionists, an I.T. Specialist and an Office Manager in order to provide care to his large medical practice.

We require an RPN in the office for 22.5hrs/week to share the role responsibilities with one other Medical/Prescription Assistant. Opportunity to increase hours as required in office.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Management of messages, emails and faxes from clients, team members, pharmacists, allied health professionals, retirement homes, and community partners
Complete reconciliation and monitoring of client medications
Prepare prescriptions for physician review and signature
Correspond with pharmacies regarding patient profiles, dispensing history, alternative options, routine or urgent prescriptions, and advice
Under the supervision of a physician interact and contribute collaboratively with respect to medication adjustments, lab ordering, and blood pressure management
Liaise with retirement homes to complete biannual medication reconciliations and annual Tamiflu forms
Keep complete and accurate records with timely documentation in the electronic medical record including reports, blood pressures, completed prescriptions, immunization/medications started/performed by external provider
Promote healthy lifestyles, contribute to education, and support client centered care
Qualifications:
Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Ability to work independently, as well as with an inter-disciplinary team
Sound judgement, high-level organizational skills with proven experience with multi-tasking and prioritization
Pharmaceutical/medical knowledge is a requirement
Ability to learn and incorporate latest information
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Comfort with a constantly changing environment and unpredictability
Experience with electronic medical records - preferably Telus PS Suite
Proficiency in the use of computers and technology
