Department Overview

Model Management and Analytics (MMA) is committed to providing quality credit risk solutions within the retail environment. MMA's goal is to meet and exceed the needs of clients through the optimal use of leading-edge risk assessment practices and teamwork.

The Model Implementation Team is part of the MMA group within Market Risk and Model Development (MRMD) and is responsible for model implementation, on-going operational model updates/optimization, and model execution for Canadian and US Retail and Small Business Banking product portfolios. The team is also responsible for managing the data in to our environment, and supporting new data acquisitions on behalf of MMA. As part of our mandate, we support regulatory programs such as Basel and IFRS9, as well as support for various business and control partners in the retail risk space.

Job Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge and five or more years of extensive hands-on experience using SQL SAS in the context of data manipulation, data mining, and statistical analysis
  • Experience working with UNIX/LINUX and comfortable working with UNIX/LINUX file systems
  • Experienced with writing and eliciting requirements
  • Experience working in both operational and project environments
  • Good understanding of job automation and optimization
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to independently identify, debug, and solve problems in an effective and timely manner
  • Working knowledge of mainframe environments including dataset manipulation, and job submission
  • Familiarity with TD's retail business and products
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain productive working relationships with various partners across the Bank and on different levels of organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities while ensuring that critical deadlines are met
  • Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and DB2 databases would be an asset
  • Project management experience would be an asset
  • An understanding of the credit life cycle and related regulatory frameworks would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Regular Expression, Perl, Python, R, JSON, XML, CA7, JCL, REST API's, Confluence, and JIRA would be an asset

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the position will work closely with Retail Model Development, Model Validation, Reporting and Analysis teams, Technology Solutions, and with internal/external business partners. This role has the following key accountabilities:
  • Lead a growing team of 7 full time, contract, and associate professionals
  • Lead data discovery and updates to the model scoring data pipeline from multiple internal and external sources
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the model implementation framework to support existing and new capabilities from downstream data and scoring consumers
  • Lead expected loss, adjudication, account management, and collections model implementation on complex platform leveraging host and distributed technologies
  • Support downstream analysis of model results
  • Collaborate with model development teams and the MMA Reporting team to perform various impact estimates for new model implementations
  • Support the MMA Governance team during internal and external audit reviews and compliance attestations
  • Support the development and execution of a program plan to re-platform model operations to a new SAS environment, leveraging new vendor capabilities to help reduce the reliance on internal software development

Education and Accreditation:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related fields/experience
  • SAS or R certification would be considered assets
