The Role
The Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Revenue Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all revenue streams across the organization. This role also supports revenue processes across the organization, ensuring consistency and compliance with accounting standards

Key Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting & Recognition
o Post and reconcile daily/weekly invoicing and revenue transactions from EventPro, Shopify, Parking vendor reports, and Raiser's Edge into QuickBooks Online (QBO).
o Review and code items through Dext for proper categorization.
o Record deposits, prepare journal entries, and reconcile revenue-related accounts including deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and prepaid revenues.
o Support accurate and timely month-end close for all earned and contributed revenue streams (rentals, commissions, retail, parking, memberships, donations, grants, education fees, events)
o Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profits (ASNPO) and revenue recognition policies.
Systems & Reporting
o Maintain strong working knowledge of key revenue systems (QuickBooks Online, Dext, Plooto, EventPro, Shopify, external parking contractor reports, Raiser's Edge).
o Work with the Development team to ensure donation revenue is accurately recorded and recognized.
o Maintain revenue schedules, dashboards, and reports for management, Finance Committee, and auditors
o Partner with others to streamline and automate revenue processes where possible.
Analysis & Business Support
o Provide revenue analysis to the CFO, and other members of the leadership team as required.
o Identify risks, variances, and opportunities to improve revenue performance.
o Support forecasting and budgeting processes for earned and contributed revenues.
Audit & Compliance
o Support the CFO in preparing revenue-related audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
o Assist in maintaining internal controls related to revenue collection, recognition, and reporting.
Other Duties
o Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
o Support vendor and customer payment processing through Plooto.
o Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as required to support the Finance function.
Qualifications
CPA designation or working toward designation an asset.
2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on revenue accounting or audit.
Experience in not-for-profit, cultural institutions, or multi-revenue stream organizations is an asset.
Familiarity with or a willingness to learn multiple systems (QuickBooks Online, Raiser's Edge, Shopify, EventPro, Eventbrite, and other similar platforms).
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
