About The Job
Respite support workers provide respite in the participants family home or taking the participant to activities in the community.
Duties may include (but are not limited to): Personal care, feeding, transferring, dressing, bathing, changing, toileting, assisting participants with life skills (cooking, cleaning, shopping), engaging in recreational activities with the participant, taking participant to activities in the community and managing challenging behaviours.
What Are We Looking For?
Requirements:
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check (no more than 3 months old) are required before interviews.
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must willing to travel to different areas of the city
Driver's License & Vehicle
Must be able to speak, read & write English effectively
Must have experience with violent/aggressive behaviours
Due to working with a population that have vulnerable health conditions worker's must provide proof of Vaccination
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is an asset
Experience working with individuals with high needs and personal care an asset
Experience with lifting & transferring with hoyer lift will be an asset
Skills:
Be able to perform The Key Areas of Responsibility:
Working, volunteering or personal experience with people with Disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury)
Education in Disability and Community Support Program, Educational Assistant, Special Needs Child Care, Health Care Aide or related field
