Your Opportunity:

This advanced level Respiratory Therapist performs advanced respiratory work in the IPOP - Post Covid Clinic. The RT II plans, implements, and evaluates diagnostic therapy of patients with Post Covid symptoms to ensure appropriate management of these patients. The Respiratory Therapist II will function as an alternate care provider, who is able to independently assess, manage and evaluate patient care according to the Respirologist\'s initial assessment and the RT II will continue with follow up care for the patient. The RT II ensures that there is Respiratory Therapist representation at patient care rounds to discuss and provide input into respiratory care and treatment plans. The RT II provides patient and family education on respiratory issues related to Covid-19. The RT II is expected to resolve unusual and complex cases that are referred by the Respirologist and Nurse Practitioner. The RT II will work independently and also work well within a multidisciplinary team. The position is primarily located at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with patient, family, and staff education. Current BCLS. Minimum of 3 years of independent clinical respiratory experience within the last 5 years (you are the sole Respiratory Therapist in this clinic). Experience within the last 3 years in an ambulatory setting. Experience within the last 1 year with post-Covid patients. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated problem solving, planning and organization skills is required. Must demonstrate a strong patient/family centered approach to care. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email and internet access is required. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team while managing a busy caseload. Must have Connect Care. Preferred Qualifications:

Current Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) designation. Experience with program development. Experience with case management.
