We are currently looking for a Full Time Respiratory Therapist II to join our Anesthesia Team. This is an advanced technical position providing region-wide clinical assistance to Anesthesiologists both in the operating room and in off-site surgical facilities. The Respiratory Therapist II will work collaboratively with the operating room team to perform and assist with advanced respiratory procedures (such as airway management, laryngoscopy, endotracheal intubation, drug preparation, peripheral venous cannulation, blood salvaging, arterial line insertion, and arterial blood gas sampling & analysis) for patients requiring/under anesthesia. You will also be responsible for daily set-up and verification of anesthetic machines and equipment. A demonstrated pattern of professional development; display of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, be self-directed, exercise independent decision-making and effectively resolve conflict; and promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment are required. This RRT position includes the following physical requirements: being on one\'s feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment of up to and sometimes exceeding 20lbs.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.
