Residential Program Manager

Job Description

Subject to the primary management responsibility and oversight of the Executive Director, the Residential Program Manager provides leadership, oversight, and operational support to ensure high-quality care and services for our residents. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Manager is responsible for the overall coordination of staffing, service delivery, compliance, and team performance. This is a non-unionized leadership role that directly supervises unionized Key Support Workers and front-line staff.
1.

Leadership & Staff Supervision

Provide direct supervision to Key Support Workers (KSWs), offering guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and client-centred care.

Conduct regular check-ins to support communication, consistency, and staff morale.

Participate in training new staff, and performance evaluations for front-line staff and KSWs.

Address workplace concerns, conflicts, or performance issues in collaboration with the Executive Director.



2.

Operational Oversight

Ensure smooth daily operations of the residential program, including adherence to schedules, staff coverage, and quality service delivery.

Oversee staff schedules prepared by KSWs, ensuring compliance with policies and contracts.

Monitor overtime, vacation usage, and relief staffing to ensure cost-effectiveness and proper coverage.



3.

Administrative Accountability

Review incident reports, and documentation completed by KSWs and front-line staff.

Ensure all required documentation (e.g., care notes, behaviour tracking, medication logs) is accurate, timely, and in compliance with policies.

Client-Centred Service Quality

Ensure services provided are individualized, inclusive, and aligned with the organization's mission and values.

Advocate for client needs in collaboration with families, case managers, and external professionals.

Review support plans regularly and ensure they are implemented effectively by the team.



5.

Health & Safety Compliance

Ensure all staff follow safety protocols, medication administration procedures, and emergency plans.

Conduct or delegate regular health and safety checks of the home.

Address and report hazards, incidents, or risks in a timely and effective manner.



Experience



Required

:

Minimum

3-5 years of progressive experience

in a

residential or social services

setting. At least

2 years of supervisory or leadership experience

, preferably in a unionized environment. Proven track record in

staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management

. Experience ensuring

compliance with health and safety standards, agency policies, and regulatory requirements

.Preferred

Experience working with individuals with

developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or complex needs

. Demonstrated success in

leading teams through change

, fostering collaboration, and maintaining high staff morale. Familiarity with

collective agreements

and

labour relations practices
