The Department of Anthropology examines the unity and diversity of humanity, human culture and society from acomparative and global perspective. Members of our department have consistently included anthropologists of international renown, and have continually produced research in a wide range of areas. As part of one of the world's top research universities, our department conducts research that is broadly international, varying in method and theoretical frame to understand human experience in social, cultural and evolutionary contexts. Under the direction of the Department Chair, the Research Services Officer will support the Department of Anthropology's research community to advance the department's research administration activities.







Your responsibilities will include:



Disseminating information regarding research funding programs and opportunities to the research community Promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputation Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications Keeping well-informed on research funding programs, application guidelines, policies/procedures and regulations Conducting detailed analysis of grant application policy to maximize research funding Advising faculty on funding application strategies Advising on improvements to draft funding proposals to better meet agency requirements Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts

Essential Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum five years of recent and related experience in research support, research budgeting, and grant applications. Experience with grants preferably in the Anthropology field such as SSHRC. Experience drafting funding applications and editing content. Experience working with research granting councils and funding agencies. Experience interpreting and applying funding agency policy, criteria and application standards. Demonstrated abilityto build relationships and to work with all levels of stakeholders including researchers and administrators Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal including excellent editing skills.

USW Pay Band 13 - $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
