Your Opportunity:As a Protective Services Officer (PSO) II with Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking full time staff to protect the patients, staff, visitors and property of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and the Medicine Hat Community AHS sites. Medicine Hat is located approximately 169 km east of Lethbridge and 295 kms SE of Calgary. As a PSO, you will be a first responder to critical events within a team environment, while managing your time and setting priorities. You will be working within a hospital, out at our AHS community sites, using our Community and Rural Mobile units. CPOs documentation and reporting are a key part of this role. You will utilize the Perspective system to prepare detailed, written documentation of all security and life safety incidents. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking.Description:As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment. Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to work within Medicine Hat Regional Hospital as an AHS CPO or at our other AHS Community sites. Ability to do security patrols on foot and able to do security patrols by motor vehicle. Preferred Qualifications:Prefer 2 years' experience as a Community Peace officer for Alberta Health Services or other Alberta CPO or Police Organizations. Prefer two years' post-secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice. Prefer two years. security/law enforcement experience. Non-violent Crisis Intervention training and Pressure Point Control Tactic Certificates are also, assets.
