Research Methods Specialist (Lead, Knowledge Mobilization Research & Psychometrics)
Provincial System Support Program

Position Description:

CAMH\'s Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) works with communities, service providers and other partners across Ontario to move evidence to action to create sustainable, equitable, system-level change. With offices in Toronto and across the province, PSSP is on the ground collaborating with partners to build a better system through our work in implementation, knowledge mobilization, evaluation, information management, health equity and lived-experience engagement.

PSSP is currently seeking a full-time, permanent, Research Methods Specialist ( Lead, Knowledge Mobilization Research & Psychometrics). Reporting to the Manager of Knowledge Mobilization, the Research Methods Specialist will support PSSP\xe2\x80\x99s Knowledge Mobilization portfolio in identifying and responding to knowledge gaps and needs in Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s mental health, substance use and addictions system.

The Research Methods Specialist will have expertise across broad research methodologies with particular emphasis on synthesis research methods and psychometrics. They will use this expertise and support the execution of diverse applied research and evaluation projects. They will have the capacity to develop psychometric tools (e.g., surveys) and design analytical plans for quantitative projects. They will be able to play key roles in conducting reviews, meta-analyses and jurisdictional scans on diverse topics across the mental health landscape. This role will include:

• Designing and executing quantitative approaches to applied research, evaluation, and synthesis research
• Developing tailored KMb, resources, and engaging appropriate data visualization strategies to guide responsive and informative evidence-sharing and support evidence-informed decision-making needs of researchers, policy makers, and health care decision-makers across Ontario
• Engaging with diverse interest groups and subject matter experts to understand evidence needs and facilitate the application of evidence in accessible formats
• Disseminating and publishing work that advances the field of knowledge mobilization and demonstrates impact across priority areas
• Providing guidance toward the development of work plans for priority projects
• Consistently reviewing and sharing emerging research, evidence and technologies in the field of KMb

The application of innovative, timely and responsive methods to identify and communicate best practices/proven strategies is an essential element of this role. Other duties will apply. Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant field with 5 years related experience. PhD in a relevant field is an asset. Previous experience working within a research, hospital, or a government environment, and experience working with Ontario health and allied systems, marginalized populations, clinicians, service providers, system planners and policy makers in the mental health and addictions system would be an asset. Expertise in quantitative research and analysis, psychometric planning and survey development is essential. You ideally possess specific training and experience in conducting research, analyses, systematic reviews, consultations, and a broad range of knowledge synthesis work in the areas of mental health and substance use. Experience with a range of knowledge mobilization methods (e.g. data visualization, online repositories, communities of interest/practice, online collaborative spaces, leading interactive events and developing innovative web-based activities), with demonstrated ability to research, analyze and develop knowledge mobilization strategies; leading grant applications is required. Demonstrated networking, leadership, relationship building and engagement, interpersonal and listening skills are required to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and to facilitate the development of partnerships, including facilitation of groups and building consensus is an asset. Advanced skills in problem solving are required, including experience with innovative technologies/mechanisms, quality improvement, evaluation, and assurance of practices and procedures. You will also possess strong oral and written communication skills, including peer-reviewed, reports, reviews, summaries, and plain language writing; facilitation and presentation skills; and the ability to manage a diverse task load. Proficiency in web-based tools, evidence databases, project management software, Adobe and Microsoft Office software, including spreadsheet and presentation applications is essential. You are able to work independently, with strong initiative, and possess the ability for self-directed learning, with the ability mentor peers and collaborate effectively with team members. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.

Salary Range: $38.21 - $51.54 per hour
