Research Methods Specialist

Toronto, ON, Canada

Job Description

The Centre for Youth Bipolar Disorder (CYBD) is a clinical research program focused on intervention studies, observational studies, biological studies, and knowledge translation relevant to youth bipolar disorder. A core theme of CYBD is the link between heart health and brain health in youth. CYBD is partnering with the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH, which seeks to transform our understanding of mental health by organizing, integrating, analyzing, visualizing and modeling data across all levels of the brain --from genes to circuits to behavior. The KCNI plays a lead role in the BrainHealth Databank, an institution-wide collaborative project to collect, coordinate and return high-quality data for re-use by researchers to advance discoveries in mental health.

The successful candidate will support the data needs of CYBD to work with research stakeholders at KCNI, across CAMH, and nationally/internationally to ensure the effective management of data assets, data lineage and data access. You have expertise coordinating end-to-end data research flows, applying data structures and provenance to ensure long-term data reusability for analysis. You are experienced creating 'data cuts'/'data marts' and developing data visualizations (e.g. dashboards). An ideal candidate has an active interest in mental health and has worked with health care data including exposure to genomic, structural and functional brain imaging, medical records, blood biomarkers, and other data sources.

Working with the knowledge engineering team, your responsibilities include the management, integrity and maintenance of research data and alignment with the data warehouse and semantic ontologies by;

  • Coordinating data and material transfer agreements with participating cites.
  • Curating a repository of neuroimaging data from participating sites, and conducting quality control.
  • Managing data assets, data lineage and data access, supporting sound data analysis.
  • Ensuring consistent application of data models and provenance tracking, including data quality and data accuracy across all group delivery initiatives.
