The opportunity:



The Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration of one or more active research projects in stroke. The scope of duties will include recruiting, interviewing, obtaining informed consent, monitoring, and following up with participants with stroke who part of various clinical research studies. They will be responsible for providing instructions for clinical trials involving pharmacological and/or surgical interventions and related work processes. The research coordinator will also coordinate chart reviews in accordance with the research ethics board approved protocol, ICH-GCP, and TCPS2 CORE. They will navigate and prepare research ethics, institutional impact, privacy and data access applications as well as maintains on-going submissions including amendments and annual approval as required. Other duties as assigned. The incumbent will provide updates on study progress to the Principal Investigator and Research Manager on a weekly basis.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:



Bachelor's degree in life sciences or equivalent required. Master's degree in relevant field is preferred

EXPERIENCE:



Previous experience in clinical trials is required. Should successful candidate not possess RN/LPN degree some tasks may be supervised as appropriate by licensed RN/LPN. Previous experience in stroke/neurology experience is preferred. Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) designation from the Society of Clinical Research Professionals (SoCRA) a definite asset. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



Previous research experience including obtaining informed consent, participant recruitment and data management activities is required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs including Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are required. Strong attention to detail required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team-oriented environment is required. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent organization and time management skills are required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions are required. A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

OTHER JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:



Previous experience in stroke research is a strong asset. Previous experience conducting regulatory clinical trials is considered a strong asset. Experience with preparing ethics submission, institutional impact, privacy and data access applications are a strong asset. Training in TCPS-CORE (research ethics) and signed WRHA PHIA (pledge of confidentiality), UofM PHIA.
